Network Inventory Advisor… version 3.6

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Many of you may have noticed that we omitted the minor upgrade to version 3.5.967 at our blog. Still if you look in the version history of the user guide, you will find the details of that release dated July 8. I won’t dig into the details of both releases actually, as I just wanted to highlight the real changes.

In 16 months since the original release of Network Inventory Advisor 3.0 we are presenting the new major update. Here’s what you will find under the hood:

Multiple nodes manipulations

Multiple nodes manipulations

#1. Batch editing and management of your nodes: select 2 or more nodes, or groups in the network tree and change their details with one click, re-group multiple nodes, scan selected, assign and edit custom fields easily.

Detect hardware changes and get notified

#2. Automatic hardware changes tracking and reporting for Windows and Mac OS nodes: there’s a new report added called Hardware Changes, as well as a new alert type which will notify you when hardware is changed, removed or added on every node.

#3. More improvements in hardware inventory: now you can easily detect and decode monitors Plug’n'Play IDs and manufacturer into readable format.

Build reports on how much RAM your computers have

#4. Network summary has been enhanced: “All network hardware” report now also shows nodes grouped by RAM size

You will also find more than 100 new (less important) fixes and improvements in the new version. It can be downloaded here. Please, comment if you want to share your thoughts or ideas, or send us an e-mail. We are working on new ideas and new features now. Please, stay tuned.
